Who we are
Donate Digital Footprint is a pre-launch project operated by an individual based in Finland. We are not yet incorporated as a legal entity.
For any privacy-related questions, contact us at privacy@donatedigitalfootprint.org.
What personal data we collect
We collect your email address and country of residence, submitted voluntarily when you join our waitlist.
We do not collect any other personal data. We do not use tracking cookies or fingerprinting. We use Plausible Analytics to understand how visitors find this website — Plausible is cookieless and collects no personal data (see Analytics below).
Why we collect it
We collect your email address solely to notify you when the Donate Digital Footprint service launches in your region. We will not use it for any other purpose without your explicit consent.
Legal basis (GDPR): Consent — Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation. You provide consent by completing the double opt-in process via our email provider.
How we store and process it
Your data is stored in Mailchimp, operated by Intuit Inc., which acts as our data processor. A Data Processing Agreement is auto-incorporated into Mailchimp's Standard Terms of Use — no separate signature is required. Mailchimp is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which provides an EU-approved legal basis for transferring personal data to the US. If the Data Privacy Framework were ever invalidated, Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) apply automatically as a fallback. We do not store your data anywhere else, and we do not share it with any other third party.
You can read Mailchimp's Privacy Policy on their website.
How long we keep it
We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send you. If you unsubscribe, your email address will be deleted from our systems within 30 days.
If the service does not launch, we will notify all subscribers and delete all data.
Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate data
- Delete your data (the right to erasure)
- Restrict how we process your data
- Object to processing
- Withdraw consent at any time — use the unsubscribe link in any email we send you
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@donatedigitalfootprint.org. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutettu) at tietosuoja.fi.
Visitors from the US and Canada
We are a pre-launch project and do not currently meet the applicability threshold for CCPA/CPRA (the law applies to businesses with $25M or more in revenue or 100,000+ California consumers). We still publish this policy so US visitors have full transparency about our data practices.
For Canadian visitors, we meet the core requirements of PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25 for email collection: explicit consent via double opt-in, a published privacy policy in plain language, and a privacy contact available at privacy@donatedigitalfootprint.org.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to understand how visitors find and use this website. Plausible is cookieless, uses no personal data, and is GDPR-compliant without requiring a consent banner. It collects only aggregated, anonymous information such as page views, referral sources, and country.
Data is processed by Plausible Insights OÜ (Estonia, EU). You can read Plausible's data policy on their website.
Cookies
We do not use cookies of any kind — not for analytics, not for tracking, and not for advertising.
Changes to this policy
When the app launches, a new Privacy Policy will apply covering the full data-donation service. We will notify all subscribers by email before any material changes take effect.
